A Sample Homesearch Case
End-to-end support for a family moving to the UK from South Africa
The father of a family in South Africa was offered a job in London. The family is excited about the adventure but want to make sure they find the right place to live, near to a good school for their young son.
Working with RPS:
After looking online, the family emailed Sally at RPS to find out how the service worked and whether we could find a suitable school and register the family with the local GP. After talking through their needs, the family decided to retain our services.
What we did:
Sally researched the best available rental properties in the target areas and arranged a viewing schedule that coincided with the dates they had booked to travel to the UK.
Once they were in the country, Sally took them to each viewing and gave them a tour of the area, finishing with lunch at a child-friendly restaurant. The family chose the property they wanted and we negotiated the tenancy agreement.
It’s daunting coming to a new country with new systems to get used to. So we also helped in a number of other areas. We organised car rental ,GP registration and school places, and we arranged for them to have furniture and homewares to tide them over until their own belongings arrived.
Deciding to stay in the UK, the family decided to buy a property and came back to RPS for our property search service. We found a property, negotiated the sale, recommended mortgage broker and solicitor and made sure everything progressed smoothly.
What They Say
“Sally was so very instrumental in our positive relocation from South Africa to the UK. More like a friend than an estate agent, she went out of her way to help us find the perfect rental property and quickly become part of the community. She is full of valuable knowledge that would've have taken us years to discover.
When we decided to stop renting and buy a property, Sally was invaluable. She knew how important school catchment areas were and steered us towards the perfect spot so that we were able to send our children to an outstanding secondary school. We are thankful for her priceless advice and for the role she has played in our journey.”
